Emerging Importance of Probiotics

Probiotics – an Introduction

Ingestion of probiotics dates back thousands of years, and not just in adults. Many countries worldwide have a tradition of introducing live active cultures (bacteria) to infants and children early in life, in fermented foods such as yogurt.

Probiotics (meaning “for life”) are live, nonpathogenic microorganisms that, when consumed in adequate amounts, provide specific health benefits to the host.1

BOOST® Kid Essentials Nutritionally Complete Drink contains Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis, delivered through the straw.
